How do you recognise a Culture Vulture?

When writing our latest book 🚀 Ady Kalra and I kept coming back to this idea of creating an organisational culture that would ensure maximum innovation, productivity and engagement for all employees.

Now that the book has launched I am once again speaking to businesses and employees who are struggling with maintaining a good, or dare I say it, a great place to work.

You see, culture is something that grows and evolves. It never stands still. In fact, just as technology is ever evolving, so is your work place.

With every new hire, the business will be influenced and it takes diligence to ensure that you create a culture that can withstand constant flux but still holds its vision close and adheres to that vision.

So how do you recognise, a culture vulture?

What does this term mean anyway?

If I search the word vulture on Wikipedia it states "A vulture is a bird of prey that scavenges on carrion".

In the world of the organisation, it is the act of seeing a culture in decline and feeding off of the negativity to perpetuate the continued negative climate until that is all that remains.

When an organisation is in the midst of yet another digital transformation that has been thrust upon the employees, we start to see what may have been a great place to work slowly being eroded away.

So what do we need to do to stop this cycle?

The first step in any way forward is to recognise that there is a problem and this needs to be addressed.

Here is a snippet from Not Another Digital Transformation

"If you do not take a holistic view of your organisation, any transformation is destined for failure. To understand your organisation, it is important to understand the path already taken, and what is seen as important from the top down and the bottom up"

"The culture places people and the customer first" "This is the true essence of the 10xGeneration, where business thrives on agility and adaptability"

When you start to see the culture vulture getting a hold of your organisation, know that there is a better way. The 10xGeneration way.
